The TP-Link Tapo C320WS 4MP Outdoor Wi-Fi Night Vision Security Camera is made for the places an indoor camera cannot survive — a gate, a rooftop, a garage, the front of a shop. Its body carries an IP66 weatherproof rating, so sun and monsoon rain do not end its working life the way they would for an indoor unit mounted outside.

Resolution is 2K QHD, 2560 × 1440 px (4MP). Outdoors, detail is the whole point: who came to the gate, what the number plate said. On a low-resolution camera the picture falls apart the moment you zoom in, and more pixels are the only real fix. Behind the glass sits a 1/3" progressive scan CMOS starlight sensor with an F1.61 lens at 3.18 mm focal length.

After dark, an 850 nm IR LED reaches 98 ft / 29.9 m. The field of view is 113° diagonal, 97° horizontal and 54° vertical, wide enough to put a full gate or courtyard in one frame. Person, vehicle, motion and tamper detection mean you are told what moved, not just that something did — which is the difference between useful alerts and a phone that buzzes all night.

This Tapo C320WS Outdoor Camera also has a 91 dB siren (measured at 10 cm) to warn someone off before anything happens. Footage goes to a microSD card of up to 512 GB in the camera, there is two-way audio through the built-in microphone and speaker, and ONVIF support lets it join an existing NVR setup. TP-Link Tapo C320WS connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) or through its 1× 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port when you would rather run a cable. Body size is 142.3 × 103.4 × 64.3 mm and it runs from a 9V DC adapter. As an outdoor Wi-Fi security camera, it covers the weatherproofing, the night range and the storage in one unit.

Important Usage Instructions

• Mount it under an eave or overhang where possible — IP66 handles rain, but shelter keeps the lens clean.
• Connect it to the 2.4 GHz band of your router, or run a cable to the RJ45 port for a steadier link.
• Angle the camera slightly downward across the area you want covered rather than straight at the sky.
• Format the microSD card from the app before relying on it, and check the recordings occasionally.
• Clean the lens cover every few weeks; dust and cobwebs wreck night footage before they affect daytime video.
