The TP-Link Tapo C200C 2MP Wi-Fi IP Camera is usually bought for one reason: knowing what is happening at home when you are not there. A child, elderly parents, house help, a pet — you open the app and look. Video is 1080p (1920 × 1080), which is enough resolution to recognise faces and see what someone is actually doing rather than guessing at a blur.

The weakness of a plain fixed camera is that it stares at one wall and misses everything else in the room. Motion detection and person detection push a notification to your phone the moment something moves, and the built-in microphone and speaker give you two-way audio with noise cancellation — enough to talk to a family member or warn someone off.

Storage is the part people usually overlook. TP-Link Tapo C200C takes a microSD card of up to 512 GB in the camera itself, so recordings stay on site with no monthly fee attached. It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n), runs from a 9V DC adapter and works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Important Usage Instructions

• This is an indoor camera — do not mount it outdoors or anywhere rain can reach it.
• Connect it to the 2.4 GHz band of your router; it does not join a 5 GHz network.
• Do not point it through a window at night — IR light reflects off the glass and washes the image out.
• Format the microSD card from inside the app before you rely on it for recording.
• Wipe the lens gently with a dry cloth; dust on the lens ruins night footage first.
