Mizuki Blender 850W

The real question with the Mizuki Blender 850W (model MMG-440) is how many kitchen jobs one machine covers. Three separate stainless steel jars are supplied, each for a different task: a 1.5 litre liquidizer jar for juice, lassi and shakes, a 1.0 litre grinder jar for dry spices, turmeric, chilli or rice, and a 0.4 litre chutney jar for onion, garlic and ginger pastes.

The usual fear with this kind of machine is a burnt-out motor — hard spices or too large a load in one go finish off many blenders. An overload protector switch is fitted here: it cuts the power when the motor runs dangerously hot, and the machine works again once it cools.

There are five stainless steel blades. More blades means more of the food is cut on each rotation, which is what makes a paste come out smooth. The domes and lids are unbreakable PC rather than glass, and the body uses virgin ABS.

A blender that walks across the counter while running is a common annoyance, so anti-slip rubber feet are fitted. Three speeds plus pulse are provided; pulse gives short bursts, which is how you chop onion or meat without turning it straight into a paste. It runs on 220-240V AC, 50Hz. • Do not run heavy loads continuously — work in short spells with rest breaks.
• Stand it on a flat, dry surface with room around it for air.
• Never immerse the motor or electrical body in water — wipe it with a damp cloth only.
• Wash the removable parts right after use so food does not dry onto them.
